Zika Virus


Zika is a public health issue and the response to this event is under control of the Florida Department of Health.  The primary transmission of the virus is by the Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus Mosquito. This is a day-time biting insect and Brevard County Mosquito Control is working directly with the Brevard County Health Department to coordinate mosquito control, if the virus appears in Brevard County. Here are some simple steps you can do to reduce the mosquito threat in your area


  • Remove all sources of standing water every 7 days (Dump It)

    • Flower pots

    • Buckets

    • Bird feeders

  • Report any stagnant swimming pools

  • Apply insect repellant when outdoors

  • Cover your body as much as possible.
